USING TOTAL HAIR CTRL

Step1: Loading figure

Load a character. In the image Victoria4 by Daz. The default Total Hair Ctrl is designed to fit V4, but adapting it to other figures is easy, and in most cases as quick as turning a dial.

Step2: Loading hair

Load a figure or prop hair for the figure you've previously loaded, and conform it (only in figure's case) A hair prop is the hair that you load through your 'hair' or 'props' libraries, while the figure hairs are loaded through 'figures'.

Step3: My hair is neck or head?

Some hair figures are on the neck bone (90%), but some are on the head bone. You need to know it to choose the right version of TotalHairCtrl! The package comes with 3 different versions, for figure neck hair, for figure head hair and for prop hair.

Just select your hair with the mouse and take a look to the Scene tab, it will tell you on what body part is a selected item, and what version of TotalHairCtrl you need to choose.

If your hair is a prop go to the Affecting Props section

Step4: Edit preferences

Make sure the AutoMagnetize feature is disabled, to avoid the TotalHairCtrl affects the neck or head part of the figure the hair is conformed to. Go to Edit>Preferences>ContentManager to find the AutoMagnetize box and uncheck it

Step5: Loading Total hair Ctrl

Select your hair model with the mouse and go to figures/! TotalHairCtrl...

If your hair is 'neck' load the TotalHairCtrl version

If your hair is 'head' load the TotalHairCtrl-HeadHair version

If your hair is a prop, load the TotalHairCtrl-PropHair version

TotalHairCtrl is a conforming figure, conform it to your hair figure, or to V4 if you are using a prop hair.

Step4: Moving handles

Use the mouse to move the handles, rotate, scale, and watch how the hair follows any order from them!

Step5: Effect dials

Additionally you can use the Effect dials to increase or move the influence that one handle has over the hair. Each handle contains dials to control the size, translation, etc. of its influence zone (red lines)

DIFFERENT CHARACTERS

Step1: Other characters

If your character is Victoria 3 or Aiko 3, the MainHandle (green big one) contains the dials to make the system fit the hair. In the image Michael3 from Daz with the Messy Hair by Kozaburo. Let's load the TotalHairCtrl but the prop version this time.

Step2: Using other characters

As you can see, the Main Handle loads a bit down and behind the head center, let's find the Manual Adjust dials...

Step3: Using other characters

Select the Main Handle (green) and find the Manual Adjust menu and expand it. Then use the dials to move all the deformers. Once the Main Handle is 2-3 inches above the head's center the Total Hair Ctrl system is ready to be used.

SAVING A POSE

Step1: Saving a TotalHairCtrl pose:

Saving your TotalHairCtrl settings allows you to use that pose on other hair figures or even props. Just select your TotalHairCtrl figure and save a pose on any pose folder. Click the '+' symbol and select Pose Preset...

Step2: Saving a TotalHairCtrl pose:

...then check Record all

Step2: Using a TotalHairCtrl pose:

Just load a new main figure, a new hair figure and a new TotalHairCtrl, make sure the TotalHairCtrl figure is selected, and apply the pose you saved.
