ABOUT TOTAL HAIR CTRL

This short tutorial will guide you through the process of creating amazing looks and hair styles for your figures. Total Hair Ctrl is not based on an specific figure and allows any character. The default settings are for Victoria4/Aiko4 hair figures and props, but you can swap to Victoria3 or Aiko3 only turning a dial. Total Hair Ctrl is based on Poser magnets, wich means you can work on any target figure, any figure hair and any hair prop with ease. The handles system allows you to move the hair with the mouse like you were touching it. Learn more about Total Hair Ctrl by watching the promo here

USING TOTAL HAIR CTRL

Step1: Loading figure

Load a character. In the image Victoria4 by Daz. The default Total Hair Ctrl is designed to fit V4, but adapting it to other figures is easy, and in most cases as quick as turning a dial.

Step2: Loading hair

Load a figure or prop hair for the figure you've previously loaded, and conform it (only in figure's case) A hair prop is the hair that you load through your 'hair' libraries, while the figure hairs are loaded through 'figures'. Let the figure hair or prop selected to avoid the magnets load on the wrong figure, and go to next step.

Step3: Loading Total hair Ctrl

Go to Props/! ! TotalHairCtrl and choose one set depending on the kind of hair you want to work with. The blue icon is the figure's set and the white icon is the hair prop's set. The figure's set won't work with hair props and viceversa. Double click and load the right product, and the handles will show up.

Step4: Moving handles

Use the mouse to move the handles, rotate, scale, and watch how the hair follows any order from them!

Step5: Effect dials

Additionally you can use the Effect dials to increase or move the influence that one handle has over the hair. Each handle contains dials to control the size, translation, etc. of its influence zone (white lines)

DIFFERENT CHARACTERS

Step1: Other characters

If your character is Victoria 3 or Aiko 3, the MainHandle (green big one) contains the dials to make the system fit the hair. In the image Michael3 from Daz with the Messy Hair by Kozaburo. Let's load the Total Hair Ctrl but the prop version this time.

Step2: Using other characters

As you can see, the Main Handle loads a bit down and behind the head center, let's find the Manual Adjust dials...

Step3: Using other characters

Select the Main Handle (green) and find the Manual Adjust menu and expand it. Then use the dials to move all the deformers. Once the Main Handle is 2-3 inches above the head's center the Total Hair Ctrl system is ready to be used.

SAVING A POSE

Step1: Saving a TotalHairCtrl pose:

Saving your Total Hair Ctrl settings allows you to use that pose on other hair figures or even props. Just select your hair figure or prop and go to any pose folder. Click the '+' symbol and on the popup menu...

Step2: Saving a TotalHairCtrl pose:

...write a name for your pose and press the Select Subset button..

Step3: Saving a TotalHairCtrl pose:

When the Hierarchy Editor opens uncheck Universe, to uncheck everything. Then look for HairFit and check it, and all the items below with Handle on the name. Don't check anything else. Press OK and again OK.

Step4: Saving a Total Hair Ctrl pose:

When you get asked to include morph channels click 'Yes', then check 'Single frame' and hit OK and you're done.

Step5: Using a Total Hair Ctrl pose:

Simply select the figure that has the Total Hair Ctrl on it, the hair if it's a figure, or the main figure if you are using a prop, and double click on any saved pose. Note: It's posible that the same pose gives different results on 2 different hair models.

HAIR ON HEAD BONES

Step1: Hair on head bones

Almost all the hair figures conform to the neck of the main figure, that's the reason the Total Hair Ctrl system is set to affect the neck part of any hair figure. But some hair figures conform to the head part of the main figure instead. If you have any figure hair that conforms to head, the Total Hair Ctrl won't work simply by loading it. You can know where the hair conforms by selecting it and checking parameters at the Parameters Editor.

Step2: Hair on head bones

To get the Total Hair Ctrl to work on such hair models load it as usual, then select the figure hair and click on the Magnetize Hair Head pose, the Total Hair Ctrl is ready to work!

Step3: Hair on other bones

The Total Hair Ctrl works with the vast majority of hair models of the market, but if you find it doesn't work on your hair figure or prop drop us a line! We only need to know the internal name(s) of the part(s) your figure hair is made of (see detail image), and we will be glad to create a pose to make it work.
